Education:
Dr. Chung completed her MD (2001) at Johns Hopkins University where she was also an intern and resident (2001-04). She was a Rheumatology Clinical Fellow at UCSF (2004-07), and joined the UCSF faculty in 2007.  Dr. Chung completed a Master’s Degree in Advanced Studies in Clinical Research at UCSF (2008).

Licensure:
Board certification, Rheumatology (2007)
Board certification, Internal Medicine (2004)
Medical License, State of California

Research Interests:
The central goal of my research program is to discover genetic and epigenetic factors that influence autoimmune disease susceptibility and its manifestations, in order to identify biologic pathways involved in disease pathogenesis and potential targets for therapeutic intervention.  Current projects focused on systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) include genome-wide association studies of lupus nephritis and autoantibody production, detailed investigations of the major histocompatilibity complex associations with SLE manifestations using high-density single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) genotyping, and DNA methylation studies of anti-dsDNA autoantibody production in SLE.  My clinical interest is systemic vasculitis, and I am developing projects studying the role of genetics and epigenetics in these diseases.
